Health Research Charities Ireland (HRCI) relies on capable and committed charity trustees (hereafter called Directors, as HRCI is also a registered company) who work effectively as a team. We place great emphasis on maintaining a diverse group of Directors, each bringing a balanced mix of skills, experiences, and knowledge, and we regularly refresh these appointments to enhance our effectiveness.
Governance is a vital aspect of our organisation, and we are dedicated to adhering to current legislation and adopting best practices to ensure robust governance arrangements. Being a charitable organisation in Ireland, we are regulated by the Charities Act 2009, and comply with guidance from the Charities Regulatory Authority, which states that “charity trustees are the people who exercise control over and are legally responsible for the management of a charity.” Directors are not permitted to profit from their roles or receive a salary for their charity trustee position, but they may be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred while fulfilling their duties.
This policy outlines the process for appointing and inducting HRCI Directors.
