HRCI Subcommittees Health Research Charities Ireland has three subcommittees which help guide and oversee the organisation.

HRCI Appointments Committee

This committee meets at least once a year before the AGM, and as otherwise required. It is entrusted with the responsibility of recommending the appointment of new Directors to the Board. Additionally, the Committee plays a pivotal role in guiding the selection of the HRCI Chair, members for the Board sub-committees and the Chair of the Irish Health Research Forum Steering Group. The Committee operates in alignment with HRCI’s overarching mission and governance policies.

Staff & Finance Committee

This committee meets six times per year and its purpose is to:

  • Advise the HRCI CEO on all aspects of staff and finance.
  • To review HRCI governance policies and practices.
  • To consider and approve new HRCI member applications.
  • To advise the HRCI CEO on wider issues of sensitivity that cannot be addressed at Board and member meetings.
  • To address issues of non-compliance with the member and Director codes of conduct, which cannot be resolved by the Chair.
  • Where necessary, to make recommendations to the Board of HRCI on issues the Committee has considered.

Advocacy & Communications Committee

This committee meets three times per year and its purpose is to:

  • Advise and make recommendations to the HRCI Board and staff on all aspects of advocacy and communications.
  • Help ensure the advocacy and communications activities of HRCI are responding to the needs of the HRCI membership and reflective of their views.
  • To provide guidance on HRCI advocacy and communications strategies.
  • To act as ambassadors for HRCI, in order to increase our profile and to reach out to possible new members and relevant stakeholders.
