We are truly delighted to announce that eight HRCI member charities are supporting 12 innovative health research projects through the latest round of the HRCI-HRB Joint Funding Scheme.
Congratulations to the Irish Thoracic Society, Fighting Blindness, Muscular Dystrophy Ireland, Parkinson’s Ireland, Breakthrough Cancer Research, Irish Cancer Society, Cystinosis Ireland & Epilepsy Ireland.
Run in partnership with the Health Research Board (HRB) since 2006, this unique scheme gives HRCI members the opportunity to match their own investment in research with HRB funding, supporting research that matters to their communities. With no known international parallels, the scheme is a powerful example of partnership between health research charities, researchers, patients and a national research funder.
It has now supported 177 research projects, with a total investment of more than €31 million. The scheme has been particularly important for rare disease research and is also an excellent example of patient and public involvement (PPI) in action.
