The HRCI 2022 Annual Report

In 2022, we were determined to reconnect and facilitate crucial conversations among our community following the challenges of the pandemic. We organised an in-person workshop in March, partnering with the PPI Ignite Network, which brought together colleagues for the first time in years. The event was filled with joy and the enriching discussions that everyone had missed. Throughout the year, we maintained inclusivity by balancing in-person and online events, experimenting with hybrid meetings to accommodate diverse preferences. Our focus centered on charities and researchers partnering on grant applications, emphasising the importance of collaboration.

We proudly co-hosted an event on health research charities participating in EU grants and actively supported Maynooth University in bringing together researchers and charities. Moreover, we successfully managed the Joint Funding Scheme, which saw a record number of funded projects with notable research quality and diversity. We celebrated these accomplishments with our members in December, expressing our thanks to all who participated and congratulating successful researchers and charities. We had the privilege of representing our member organisations in national initiatives, contributing to shaping Ireland’s future and influencing policy decisions in genetics and genomics.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who collaborated and supported us in achieving significant progress in health research. Thank you for reading our annual report.
