A study on the unique HRCI-HRB Joint Funding Scheme

We are pleased to share the report on a project examining decision-making and the role of the public/patient voice in the HRCI-HRB Joint Funding Scheme.  This project was carried out by Dr Nicola Mountford and Emily Merrick in Maynooth University, in partnership with HRCI and the HRB under the IRC New Foundations Scheme in 2022.

While HRCI and the HRB guided the focus of the project and supported its undertaking, the findings of the research team are independent. They will be used to strengthen and evolve the Joint Funding Scheme.

We also hope that the resulting report will help to strengthen health research funding decision-making processes more widely and offer insights into successfully incorporating impactful public and patient involvement (PPI) in health research.
