Salary: €50,000–€55,000 FTE (full-time equivalent), depending on experience

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, friendly and highly collaborative team working to improve lives through research. Reporting to the CEO, the Business and Operations Manager will play a central role in the effective running of HRCI, supporting finance, governance, membership, compliance and day-to-day business operations.
The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute across all aspects of a national organisation. It would suit someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of responsibility, takes pride in keeping things running smoothly and is comfortable working independently.
Key responsibilities
Finance and financial management
- Manage HRCI’s day-to-day financial operations in partnership with external accountant.
- Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software package
- Manage and track invoicing and payments in accordance with approved procedures.
- Support annual audits and preparation of statutory financial returns.
- Support the preparation of budgets, cashflow forecasts and financial reports for the CEO and Board.
Governance and compliance
- Coordinate Board meetings, committee meetings and the AGM.
- Prepare agendas, papers and minutes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and reporting requirements.
- Manage the maintenance and review of organisational policies and procedures
- Support Board recruitment, induction and administration.
Membership engagement
- Act as the primary point of contact for prospective members.
- Manage membership administration, records and renewals.
- Work with the CEO to strengthen member value, participation and growth.
Funding and grant administration
- Coordinate reporting requirements for funders and grant-making bodies.
- Prepare financial reports and support the preparation of non-financial reports.
- Support the preparation of funding applications and related documentation.
Human resources administration
- Coordinate HR administration, including leave records, pension administration and staff-related documentation.
- Maintain HR records and support the review and updating of HR policies and procedures.
- Support staff recruitment, onboarding and induction processes.
Organisational operations
- Maintain organisational records, systems and databases.
- Support the planning and delivery of organisational meetings, events and projects.
- Support the CEO and wider team in delivering organisational priorities and initiatives.
Essential skills and experience
- Experience in bookkeeping, financial administration or financial management.
- Experience using accounting software packages.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- A proactive, collaborative and flexible approach, with the ability to work effectively in a small team environment.
Desirable skills and experience
- Knowledge of charity governance and regulatory requirements.
- Experience supporting Boards or committees.
- Experience managing grant reporting requirements.
- Experience preparing budgets, forecasts and financial reports.
- Experience of HR administration.
- Experience of membership organisations or stakeholder engagement.
